The Halliday Way – June Update

We have officially set our countdown for the property market to re-open on June 18th.

There has been some very encouraging news about the residential property markets in the past week.  Many of our good friends who work in the industry in England have experienced a surge in viewings since their market re-opened and this is now progressing into agreed sales.  There has also been a significant uplift in enquiries for properties in Scotland evidenced by a 121% increase in requests for Virtual Viewings last week. We expect the Scottish Government to allow the residential market to re-open when they make their announcement on the next phase of relaxing lockdown restrictions on 18th June.

We have seen an increase in enquiries for semi-rural and village homes with good outside space – gardens are now the most ticked box on Rightmove. Remote working with online meetings means that house buyers will be able to work from home without having to commute to city centres every day.  As you can imagine a lot of house sellers have put off their plans to move this year which means that there is likely to be a shortage of stock this summer.

If you are thinking of moving in the near future, we would highly suggest that you do this soon – we don’t know what the distant future will hold but we do know that the first few months will continue like prelockdown. Please contact the team if you have any questions.
