The Halliday Way – LBTT (Stamp Duty) HOLIDAY

We hope you all remain safe and well!

I am glad to be reporting some positive news that was announced today for our buyers out there.

Kate Forbes MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Finance has today announced the threshold at which LBTT is paid is being raised from £145,000 to £250,000, meaning 80% of house buyers will be exempt from the charge.

Unfortunately a date has not been given yet as to when this will start, however if you are thinking of moving house and perhaps lockdown put you off this news could save you up to £2,100.

Please note that second dwelling tax is still in effect, however buyers who already own a property will save on LBTT.

This is the perfect time to get in touch with either office and find out how we could help you find your dream home.
